About Thomas Admissions Academics Student Life Athletics Support Thomas

"The friendships I've made at Thomas have been nothing short of amazing; in such an intimate, tight-knit community, you get to know other students quite well. These are the relationships that will last long after I graduate, some for a lifetime. I’m also really excited to think about ten years down the road and see what we’ve become, reflecting back on how our Thomas experience helped to shape and guide us."

Thomas College Trail Ready for Use Official Grand Opening Planned for Spring 2008

Thomas College Nature Trail WATERVILLE, Nov. 7 - The new nature trail at Thomas College is officially ready for use. The 3,200 foot-long trail, made possible by grants from the Maine Department of Conservation's Recreational Trail Program and the Kennebec Messalonskee Trails, was built by AmeriCorp volunteers supplied by the Maine Conservation Corps with assistance by volunteers from Thomas including members of the staff.

The trail begins behind Alumni Field, winds through a wooded area with views of the Kennebec River and Messalonskee Stream, and ends behind the Harold Alfond Athletic Center. It will eventually connect to a separate trail at Waterville Junior High School.

While the trail is open to be walked, improvements will continue to be made throughout the coming months. Signage will be placed at both entrances, additional signs identifying flora along the trail will be added and maps will be developed. An official grand opening of the trail is planned for next spring.

The trail is open for use by students, faculty, staff and the local community. For more information about the trail, please contact Donna-Jo Mitchell at 207-680-7547 or e-mail mitchell@thomas.edu
