Thursday, March 13, at 7:30 a.m.
WATERVILLE, Feb.26 - The next Business Breakfast Series, presented by Thomas College in partnership with
the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, will focus on three local businesses and their success stories. The presentation will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Center Atrium.
A panel of three local successful business people will
offer their insights and secrets to success. Mike Boulet of
Mainely Trusses, Mike Cormer of Johnny's Selected Seeds, and
Sue Giguere of Care and Comfort will share how they built strong,
vibrant businesses from humble beginnings.
Boulet is the owner and president of Mainely Trusses,
a roof and floor truss manufacturer located in Fairfield, Maine. Mike started as a
forklift operator and quickly learned all aspects of the business
in following years before becoming president. He is also
the president of Central Maine Youth Hockey and serves on
the board of trustees for Maine Merchants Association Workers'
Compensation Trust. He is a graduate of Bryant College.
Cormer is the general manager of Johnny's
Selected Seeds. Cormer has guided the enterprise from a
solely-owned proprietorship to an employee-owned ESOP
whose top line has nearly doubled since Cormer came on
board. He joined Johnny's Selected Seeds in 2001,
after serving nearly five years at Macmillan Library
Reference USA/Gale Group. From 1988-1996 he served
as the publisher of Thorndike Press. In this position, Cormer led the company from a relatively small
large-print publisher to the largest in the world.
He has a BS and an M.B.A. in Forest Management.
Giguere is the owner of Care and
Comfort, a MaineCare Certified Home Health and Mental Health
Agency. She has guided the agency from inception to
certification with branches in Bangor, Farmington,
Machias, Dover Foxcroft, Presque Isle, Waterville,
and Wilton. In addition, she is the founder and
president of Healthcare Temps which places licensed,
as well as paraprofessional, staff in hospitals,
nursing homes, industrial settings and doctor's
offices throughout the State of Maine. She received
a BS in education from Suffolk University.
