The Aging Workforce: Calamity or Opportunity at next Business Breakfast
Thursday, January 8, at 7:30 a.m.

WATERVILLE, Dec. 29 - The next Business Breakfast Series, presented by Thomas College in partnership with the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, will focus on the aging workforce. The presentation will be held on Thursday, January 8 at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Center Atrium.

This presentation will look at the physical, social and psychological aspects associated with recruiting and retaining an aging workforce. With Maine's workforce getting older, greater numbers of workers are approaching retirement age and fewer younger workers are available to replace them. Maine's employers are faced with significant challenges. These challenges can be either a calamity or opportunity. William McPeck will present which one may work best for you.

McPeck is currently the director of employee health and safety for Maine State Government. He was originally trained as a social worker but his career has included positions in community mental health, fire and arson investigation, physician licensing and medical investigation, as well as several specialty areas within employee benefits. McPeck's areas of expertise include public safety, employee health and safety, worksite wellness, and personal life coaching in the areas of health, wellness and retirement preparation. He resides and works in central Maine.

The presentation will be held in the College's Student Center Atrium on campus located at 180 West River Road in Waterville. The public is invited to attend. The program begins at 8:00 a.m.

The cost for nonresidential students, faculty, staff and alumni is $7. Residential students may attend at no charge. Contact the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce at 873-3315 or prog.asst@midmainechamber.com for registration information.

The sponsors for the 2009 Business Breakfast Series are: KFS, O'Donnell, Lee McCowan and Phillips, LLC Attorneys at Law, PFBF Certified Public Accountants, GHM Insurance Agency and UniTel, Inc.
