WATERVILLE, April 30--Thomas College is featuring the original
photography of Patrick Brancaccio in its Art Gallery in the
Thomas College Library during the months of May and June. An
opening reception will be held Friday, May 1, from 5 p.m. to 7
p.m. This event is open to the public. There is no charge to
attend. Brancaccio worked in black and white film in his own
darkroom for many years, and like many others he was a reluctant
convert to digital photography. The exhibit to be on display
includes photographs from Maine, Verona and Venice. This is
Brancaccio's second show at Thomas. Brancaccio, of Waterville,
is a retired professor of 19th-century American literature,
modern American drama, detective fiction and film at Colby
College. He is the Zacamy professor of English emeritus. He was
one of the founders of the African-American Studies Program at
Colby, and was also the resident director of the Colby in London
Theater Program and a Fulbright senior lecturer in Madagascar.
Brancaccio's work is on display from May 1 to June 26 in the Art
Gallery in the Thomas College Library inside the administration
building at 180 West River Road in Waterville. The Gallery is
open to the public Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
