Chris Rhoda Named to NEASC Evaluation Team

Waterville, Maine --- April, 2004 – Christopher Rhoda, Vice President for Information Technology Services at Thomas College of Waterville, Maine, has been selected by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NESC) to serve on a ten year re-accreditation evaluation team.  The NEASC team to which Rhoda has been appointed will visit Teikyo Post University of Waterbury, Connecticut from October 24 through 27th.

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is a non-governmental, nationally recognized organization whose affiliated institutions include elementary schools through collegiate institutions offering post-graduate instruction.  Professionals from NEASC member schools are selected to participate in the accreditation and re-accreditation process.

“I am pleased with this opportunity to serve NEASC, an organization that is so instrumental in maintaining quality education standards for schools and colleges across New England,” noted Rhoda.  “For the past year, Thomas has been involved in its own ten year re-accreditation process.  I found the overall process to be enlightening and highly beneficial to the institution.”

During the re-accreditation process at Thomas, Rhoda served on the re-accreditation steering committee that produced a written report and hosted a NEASC evaluation team.

A Thomas graduate, in 1998 Rhoda developed the first web-based administrative information system used by a college or university.  The innovative system, which was created in-house, used Microsoft and Solutions IQ products and computer programs written by Rhoda and his staff.  The system led Microsoft Corporation to issue a case study in 1999.  Officials from the company confirmed at that time that the Thomas system was the first of its kind.

Rhoda has been a featured presenter at a number of national and regional education conferences, most recently offering a presentation entitled Application-Level Firewalls at the 2004 Innovations in Higher Education Conference held from March 14 through 16 in Orlando, Florida.
