THOMAS COLLEGE

The Department of Recreation and Intramural Programs

Presents:

Scrabble

The Schedule     The Brackets     Event Roster     Event Rules

The Event Rules

1.  Format: This is a double elimination tournament

2.  Rules: Each game will be played according to the rules defined by the boxed game.   Participants will be on the honor system in scoring their own games.  Prior to the start of the game, participants must be in agreement regarding use (if any) and type of dictionary to be referenced for any challenged words.  Participants should also agree if there will be a time limit placed on the game or not.

3. Scheduling: Once the tournament brackets are posted, each pair of contestants will be responsible for scheduling and playing their games at their convenience.  They will report their results to the Director who will then document the game’s score.  The Director will update the brackets and post them accordingly.  Each game, however, must be played and completed within 1 week of the bracket postings.  Failure to complete a game within that week will result in a loss.

4.  Eligibility: The tournament is open to all current students, faculty, and staff.   Each player must have a signed liability on file with the Department of Recreation and Intramural Programs

5.  Equipment: Scrabble board can be signed out from the Front Desk and games will be played in the Athletic Center lobby areas.

6.  Sportsmanship: It will be expected that all participants respect the game and their opponents. Impolite or dishonest conduct will not be tolerated.

7.  Awards: The individual who wins the tournament will receive a small prize and their name will be placed on the Wall of Fame
