"The friendships I've made at Thomas have been nothing short of amazing; in such an intimate, tight-knit community, you get to know other students quite well. These are the relationships that will last long after I graduate, some for a lifetime. I’m also really excited to think about ten years down the road and see what we’ve become, reflecting back on how our Thomas experience helped to shape and guide us."

Thomas Singles Tennis Rules

1. Format: This is a double elimination tournament

2. Rules: Each match will consist of 3 sets of 5 games. Participants will be on the honor system in calling their own games. Any player that is not on the court to play within 3 minutes of their game time will forfeit their contest and will be marked for a loss.

3. Eligibility: The tournament is open to all current students, faculty, and staff. (The Director reserves the right to cap the number of participants in the interest of time and event management. If there is a need for a cap, a second tournament will be offered later in the year)

4. Divisions: Men’s and women’s divisions

5. Equipment: Tennis balls and racquets can be signed out at the Front Desk. Participants may play with their own equipment as well.

6. Sportsmanship: It will be expected that all participants respect the game, the court, and their opponents. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.

7. Awards: The individuals who win the two divisions will receive recognition for their achievement. Names will be added to the Wall of Fame.

8. Scheduling Matches: If a participant is unable, due to a conflict with outside work, classes, or another reasonable obligation, to play during the time scheduled for intramural tennis then they may contact their opponent and request another time slot. If each player is in agreement then contact the Director of Recreation and reserve the tennis court for 1 hour to play the match. Please try to play the match sometime on the day it is scheduled to avoid delay in the next day's schedule. We may not be able to set up the extra court to accommodate a change like this however, if the routine tennis court is free during the time requested then the players may reserve it for this purpose. It should be your goal to play your matches during the times scheduled for this event. But, in the interest of making sure that everyone plays and enjoys this tournament, if you cannot make a certain match, then these arrangements can be made.

9. Playing a Scheduled Match: Each match must be played within the week it is scheduled to keep to tournament moving forward for the following week. Any match that is not completed within the week will be forfeited. If there is a match scheduled and the pair cannot get the game in over the weekend then please call the Director.
