Confidentiality at the Health Center
The Thomas College Health Services office is designed to ensure a student's right to privacy. The student is responsible for notifying his or her family or guardian regarding a health problem. A member of the college staff may be notified of a health issue on a need to know basis and may contact parents in the event of an extreme emergency. The policy is designed to maintain the confidentiality necessary for a young adult, yet recognizes the need for families and guardians to be adequately informed.
Families may have questions about their student's health status. Medical information will not be released without the written consent of the student. Staff will assist with general questions, however principles of patient confidentiality will not be violated.
