Fall 2007 Orientation Information

The Bookstore will be open on Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Friday

August 24, 2007  
9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Resident Registration & Move-In Student Center
     
11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Commuter Registration Student Center
 

*All new students need to sign up for a Computer Configuration & Orientation Session, receive their registration packet of information, register their vehicle with Public Safety, get their Student ID photo taken, and meet with a Student Financial Services Representative.

     
11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. BBQ Lunch for Students & Families Dining Center
  *All new students and their guests are invited to join us for a BBQ lunch (free of charge).

     
1:15 p.m. President's Official Welcome Mahaney Gym
  *Meet Dr. George Spann, President of Thomas College.  
     
1:30 p.m. Student Gathering:  Playfair Athletic Center
  *New students will participate in this high energy interactive session of Playfair and have a chance to meet other new students in their class.  
     
1:30 p.m. Family Workshop Auditorium
     
     
2:45 p.m. Family Farewell Athletic Center
  *Students and families gather for a brief ceremony before families and friends depart campus.  
     
3:30 p.m. Life in the Residence Halls Auditorium
  *Hannah Gladstone, Director of Student Life/Residential Life & Housing and Chris Rhoda, Vice President for Information Services (computers) and our student leaders will share valuable information about adjusting to life in the residence halls at Thomas and will answer your questions.  
     
  Making the Most of College While Commuting Atrium
  *This is an opportunity to talk with current commuter students about campus resources and adjusting to college as a commuter! Learn about special programs offered, how to get involved, and take a tour to find the Commuter Lounge. The Director of Student Life and Chris Rhoda, Vice President for Information Services (computers) will be on hand to share information and answer questions.

Session A:  Computer Configuration & Orientation for Recommended Dell Computers             Rooms 122, 126 and 225

 

  *Students who signed up during Registration will need to attend. Bring your computer (laptop or PC tower) and your Thomas College username and password. All new students must attend one of these sessions!   
     
5:00 p.m. Dinner with Orientation Groups Dining Center
  *Don't forget to meet with your Orientation Group for dinner. Sign up for Saturday and Sunday workshops and outings.  
     
6:15 p.m. Ed Gerety- Motivational Speaker Auditorium
 

 

 

 
7:30 p.m. Community Meetings with Resident Assistants Residence Halls
  *Meet with your RA and floor residents to discuss expectations, staying safe, and living in your new community.  

 

     
8:00 p.m. Scavenger Hunt Hunt starts/ends Gym Lobby
       
9:00 p.m. Big Screen Movie - Pirates of the Caribbean III & Free Dominos Pizza Mahaney Gym  
  *All new students are invited to watch Pirates of the Caribbean III on the Big Screen.  Free Dominos pizza and movie theater popcorn will be served.

This not yet released to the public film will be shown on a special large screen!  Captain Jack is back to finish his amazing adventure as a pirate aboard his beloved Black Pearl.  The beautiful Elizabeth is captured and Jack, Will and Captain Barbossa go on a round the world adventure to save her in the last segment of this incredible trilogy.  No need to have seen the first two movies to enjoy this great film!

12:45 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Camp Caribou Canoe Trip/Swimming and Sand Volleyball Meet at the Flag Pole
  *Lunch will be provided. Join in an afternoon on the lake; bus leaves from the flag pole at 12:30 p.m.  
     
1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Men's Soccer Alumni Game Alumni Field
     
1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. Tours of Waterville Meet at the Flag Pole
  *Learn what the City has to offer, visit local favorites, get a sense of your new surroundings! Vans leave from the flag pole at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tours last about one hour.  
     
1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Bowling Strike Ten
  Bowling at Strike Ten! Meet at the flag pole at 1:15 p.m. We will walk across the street to the Strike Ten Bowling Center.  
     
2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Volleyball and Basketball Athletic Center
 

2:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Steve has been seen in numerous commercials, performances in Las Vegas shows, colleges nationwide and in the recent independent film, "Tough Hombre."  He worked on "The Late Show" with David Letterman and with SNL veterans Victoria Jackson and Colin Quinn.  A Maine native, he looks forward to his second appearance at Thomas.
