Gayla LaBreck
Gayla LaBreck, a graduate of the University of Maine in
Machias, began teaching in 1973. She completed her
Master's
of Education as a Literacy Specialist at the University of
Maine (UM) and her National Board Certification in 2000.
She earned her Continued Advanced Study (CAS) in Educational
Leadership through UM and also holds a Superintendent's
Certification. She has taught in the Master's of Education
Program at Thomas College since 2005.
Gayla has
worked as a Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and
Assessment, a Goals 2000 Coordinator, an NCLB Coordinator, a
Literacy Specialist and Coach. In 1996, she joined the IASA
team at the Department of Education as a Distinguished
Educator. In 1999, she provided assistance in the area of
assessment to the Maine Center for Educational Services in
Auburn. She now works as an Educational Consultant
providing training in areas of literacy, mentoring and
coaching for new teachers and also guides teachers within
their classrooms. She has presented for Pearson Learning as
a National Consultant at the International Reading
Association Convention, at the Mid-Maine Conference and
other regional and local workshops.
