Cybersecurity student Maddie Strout ’20 spent her summer interning at WEX, a payment processing technology firm that was recently named to Fortune Magazine’s list of Fastest-Growing Public Companies.

As an identity access management intern, Maddie gained crucial experience directly applicable to her studies at Thomas.
“Being able to look at technology and software changes and enhancements while blending the compliance relation brought forth a lot of my studies,” said Maddie. “I was able to look at how to best approach outreaching changes and risk considerations to the business side of WEX rather than the technology teams within it. This is an important topic within my studies.”
Maddie’s internship added value to her Thomas education, but she had the ability to partake in this internship because of what she has studied here.
“At Thomas College, I’ve been prepared for the constant evolution and changes within my future career within cybersecurity,” said Maddie. “I’ve been able to follow and learn what current compliance considerations are at work locally, nationally, and internationally. I’ve been able to learn key skills in analysis and communication to bring into my internship position.”
Overall, interning at WEX gave Maddie great experience to go into her final year of studying at Thomas. She feels thankful to work for such an impressive company for the summer.
