Greenlight Maine Collegiate Pitch Competition
When: November 16th 1:00-7:00pm
Where: Thomas College in Waterville, Maine
Are you a full or part-time Maine College Student who has a scalable business idea? Enter Greenlight Maine Collegiate Challenge for a chance to win $25,000 to help fund your business.
Up to 40 companies will present a 3 minute pitch followed by a 5 minute Q&A.
The 26 best teams will compete head to head in 13 episodes to be filmed in January 2020 and will air on WCSH and WLBZ TV, streamed on Hulu and available on YouTube.

Thomas College and the Harold® Alfond Institute for Business Innovation are proud to host the preliminary round of next year’s Greenlight Maine Collegiate Challenge on campus during our 3rd Annual Central Maine Converge and Create Weekend.
The registration deadline has been extended, participants can not register until November 11th at 4:00pm.
By registering to Pitch on November 16, you agree to be present for the following events (if necessary):
Initial Pitch - November 16, 2019
The initial pitch-off will take place at Thomas College in Waterville on November 16th from 1 PM to 7 PM, or until completed.
All prior participants are eligible to pitch again, except for previous Collegiate Greenlight Maine Winners.
All participants will be identified by number only – no names or college affiliations unless they choose to do so in their presentation.
The maximum number of business from each school will be controlled by the overall number of applications received
Each contestant(s) will have 3 minutes to pitch followed by a 5 minute Q&A.
Power point will be allowed and, if absolutely necessary, video may be included.
For this elimination round as many as 3 individuals from each company will be allowed to pitch. However, in the televised competition only 2 will be allowed-this is due to production challenges.
The judges will score on a numerical system from 1 to 10 in each of the 5 criteria;
- Feasibility 20%
- Innovation 20%
- Scalability 20%
- Overall quality of business idea 20%
- Ability to grow business in Maine -20%.
All participants will be assigned a time to arrive and that will be determined via conference call on Friday, November 8th.
All judges will have no affiliation with any Maine college.
Televised Pitch Competition - January 2020
This televised competition will be among the 26 best chosen from the initial pitch off.
This round will allow power point only and a maximum of 2 presenters.
It will take place on the Husson University campus on January 6th through the 14th with the 11th and 12th off. With the snow date of the 15th as a backup.
All pitches will again be 3 minutes with a 3 minute Q&A. This is for the televised show only. Once the televised segment has been filmed all presenters will get 10 minutes off camera to take a deeper dive into their business with the judges.
Arrival times will be allotted and, at this point, schools and presenters will be identified.
From this round, 3 finalists will be chosen.
Finals - Date TBD
Date to be determined at Husson University in Bangor, the three finalists will vie for the chance to win $25,000 in cash and the possibility of other services and benefits.
The pitching format will remain the same as the elimination round.
This event will be televised statewide on WCSH and WLBZ TV, streamed on Hulu and available on YouTube.
