This summer, Bob Moore, Sr. Vice President of Advancement, and Wendy Martin, who had returned to Thomas after a brief hiatus as Development Officer, made dramatic moves on campus. With an opening at the helm of the Admissions office, Moore became the Sr. Vice President of Advancement and Admissions, keeping his leadership role for development, alumni relations, and career services while adding on the many facets of enrollment and marketing. He enlisted Martin’s help (and her 15 years of Thomas Admissions experience) by promoting her to Assistant Vice President of Admissions to oversee the day-to-day operations.
With a fledging but talented Admissions staff, Moore, Martin and crew are focused on strengthening existing connections with high schools across Maine and establish strongholds throughout New England as well.
“Historically, Thomas has dominated the high schools within a 40-mile radius of campus,” says Moore. “We want – and need – to extend that. Having guidance counselors, teachers, and administrators on our team is key to driving enrollment. It’s a back-to-basics approach.”
“The Admissions team is working extremely hard, and though it’s still early in the process, the results are promising,” says Martin. “Bob and I are encouraged by how the staff has embraced taking a more personal approach – making prospective students and families feel welcome. We’re confident that the results will pay off. Again, though it’s early, we’re already looking at a strong entering class for Fall 2018.”
“As alumni, Wendy and I bring some historical knowledge of the College that we hope helps in telling the Thomas story more effectively,” adds Moore.
