Maine artist and activist Robert Shetterlywason campus February 2 to talk with Thomas College education students about the function of education in the world today, its relationship to a healthy democracy, and the responsibilities of teachers. Also – how central the arts are to changing consciousness, carrying culture forward, and helping students discover their individual identities.

While here, he will also able to share some of his art – which he recently lent to Thomas College to hang in its hallway near the Center for Innovation in Education.

Robert Shetterly is the creator of Americans Who Tell the Truth, which is “a series of portraits and narratives that highlight citizens who courageously address issues of social, environmental and economic fairness…to inspire a new generation of engaged Americans who will act for the common good, our communities, and the Earth.”
