About Our Professional Development Programs:
Thomas College offers an array of non-credit Professional Development courses and programs designed to offer participants relevant skills that they can quickly utilize in the workplace and increase employability. Offered either in a strictly online format or in-person (temporarily not being offered due to COVID-19), these courses are designed to provide high impact instruction and where indicated, eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

In-Person*
An array of non-credit professional development courses are offered in both the Fall and Spring semesters of each year by Thomas faculty and expert instructors.
Courses that we typically run include the following:
Leadership Symposium – (6 weeks) – This intensive program is for managers, directors and executives. The program focuses on the aspects of leadership through influence without authority, high performance teams, strategic planning, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Supervision I: Introduction to Supervision – (3 weeks) – A high impact program for employees who are ready to advance to supervisory or management roles. Topics include stepping up, managing people, effective communications and delegation.
Supervision II: Intermediate Supervision – (3 weeks) -Supervisors and managers will learn how to identify and manage their employee’s work personalities, deal with difficult employees and effectively manage and resolve conflicts in the workplace.
Lean and Agile Process Improvement – (6 weeks) – Learn how to improve processes in your work place using Lean/Agile management methods. These techniques have shown to deliver better results for all types of organizations throughout the world by saving time, money and increasing staff capabilities.
Effective Teamwork – (3 weeks) – Become the quintessential team player! Learn individual and team building skills by completing interactive team challenges in this highly participatory and hands-on course.
Masterful Communications – (3 weeks) – Learn effective techniques for speaking with coworkers and customers, managing meetings, tactfully addressing issues in your workplace with management and writing short documents such as emails and status reports.
High-Performance Sales – (3 weeks) – Become skilled in listening to your customer, understanding their needs and making a winning sales pitch using Empathy as the foundation for your sales program.
Technical Writing – (3 weeks) – Learn how to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, in both informational and instructional formats.

Specializations
Thomas College is known for offering high quality professional development in the key professional areas of business, innovation and information technology. For learners who want to engage in more than just a course, but less than a full degree program, the College has created a number of opportunities to earn a Specialization in a specific field.
Specializations combine a variety of courses from the College’s non-credit online and in-person course catalogs. Upon successful assessment of all required courses, participants will be awarded a specialization badge that memorializes their achievement.

Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy has been created to provide the right skills within the right context to assist individuals looking to take on leadership roles in supervisory, management, and executive positions within their organizations.
Skills Center
As professionals, we all need to advance our skill set from time to time to stay on top of our game. These courses will help your employees learn or refine their skills in these particular subject areas.
