Latest Update from Laurie G. Lachance – Second Confirmed Case of COVID-19 at Thomas College MacKenzie Riley Young | November 9, 2020

Published: November 9, 2020

To the Thomas College Community,

Today, the College learned of a second confirmed case of COVID-19 in our community. This individual is in isolation off-campus and has not been on campus since early November. Their self-reported positive test result was not obtained through our campus testing program. However, in the interest of total transparency, we wanted to inform the Thomas College community about this new case, and reassure you that, as before, we are working with the Maine CDC to take all necessary steps to mitigate risk to our campus so that we can continue to fulfill our goal of learning, living, and working on campus safely.

Over the last couple of weeks, some members of our community have come forward to the Testing Coordinator to express their concern over possible exposure off-campus. They have volunteered this information in the true spirit of our caring community, and we commend these individuals for doing all they can to keep all of us safe and together on campus.

While we will continue to update you via email with important health and safety messages, any future confirmed cases will be documented on our COVID-19 Dashboard unless the situation requires a larger, community-wide announcement. The dashboard is updated daily, Monday through Friday.

Finally, I would like to remind our community that it is incumbent on all of us to protect the privacy of this individual so they can focus on their health.
