Senior VP of Advancement Bob Moore ’79 will complete his time at Thomas on September 27 – nine years to the day after he took the role.

After taking the reins in 2010, he quickly became famous for his consistent event introduction: “I’m Bob Moore, a proud Thomas graduate of the Class of 1979.” That friendly demeanor and institutional pride helped Moore and his team in revitalizing alumni relations and fundraising, as well as advancing the career services program and public relations and communications. He was instrumental in supporting the College’s Dream. Transform. Achieve. Campaign from 2010 to 2014, as well as more recent efforts to generate vital support for the College’s next phase of strategic growth.

Under Moore’s leadership, Thomas grew alumni participation in giving from 6% to 13% and moved the Thomas Fund, the College’s annual fundraising campaign, up and well over the $1 million threshold – record highs for the school and its alumni base of approximately 8,000. His partnering of the career services program with alumni relations was one of the first such models in the nation and demonstrated to other colleges and universities the value of connecting graduates with current students for internship and job opportunities.

“As a member of the staff, it’s been a real treat to see the College’s growth over the last decade,” says Moore.  “And as an alum, I couldn’t be prouder – I never thought I’d see Thomas where it is today.” He adds, “I’ve had more fun working with others to build and rebuild relationships with alumni, students, faculty, staff, trustees, businesses and friends of Thomas that helped us to achieve a major goal – creating a culture of philanthropy that will have a lasting impact on the mission and our students.”

“Bob is near and dear to our hearts and has given so much to Thomas College,” says President Laurie Lachance M.B.A. ’92. “He has truly impacted our staff, our students, our alumni, and our future.”

Moore will take on a new role leading the development effort at Kents Hill, a private co-ed preparatory school for grades 9-12 in Readfield, ME. The Thomas community thanks Bob for his dedication, leadership, and generosity, and wishes him the best of luck in this new adventure.
