Steve applies his 30-year career in environmental research at UMaine and UNH to his practical, applied teaching at Thomas College that includes Environmental, Geology, Energy, and Sustainable courses.

Biography:
Steve was a research director for many years in the UMaine and UNH systems, as founding director of the Senator George Mitchell Center For Environmental Research at UMaine, and founding director of the Center for the Environment at Plymouth State University. He was awarded more than $26 million in grants and contracts over a 30-year career in these two institutions. He advised 70 graduate students over this period. Steve was the director of the US EPA acid rain research program in the northeast US from 1983 to 2011 and continues to participate in this research, which is now run by one of his former graduate students.
More recently, Steve was the Director of Sustainability at Unity College where he earned the prestigious AASHE Stars Gold status for sustainability for the college. Before that, he was the Director of Energy and Environmental Strategies for Sewall Engineering Company in Old Town. He started his career teaching high school chemistry in Connecticut.
