Student Tiffany White ’20 on Her Transformation at Thomas Web Director | November 26, 2019

Meet Tiffany White and you will immediately notice her exuberant, bright personality. Tiffany brings the same energy to her coursework and career plans, and is up front about the impact Thomas College has had on her.

“As a high school student, I was unsure how I would make college work,” she recalls. “As the first person in my family to go to a four-year college, I had some uncertainties.” Tiffany shares that her mother urged her to apply for a highly selective, national scholarship, and after twenty rounds vying for the award (among more than 20,000 competitors), she was one of 150 recipients. The generous award put college within reach. “Then the scholarship support I received from Thomas sealed the deal,” Tiffany notes.

Once enrolled, Tiffany, a forensic accounting major, got to know her professors, particularly accounting professor Joe Donato, who encouraged her to get involved on campus and take on internship opportunities. “Professor Donato helped me connect to some of the accounting firms I was interested in. Now I have two lined up, including at Baker Newman Noyes in Portland and Ernst and Young in Boston.” In addition, Tiffany knows exactly what she needs to do after graduating to prepare for and earn her CPA, as well as move into her dream job of working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“Thomas has done so much for me, and I am so happy I have the chance to give back as a Student Advancement Officer,” she says, a role that allows Tiffany to reach out to alumni and generate philanthropic support for the College. She’s also the president of Phi Beta Lambda, the business leadership group on campus, under advisor Roberta Tibbetts ’69, ’71. “I love it here and am so excited to do everything I’ve set out to do.”
