Thomas College to Expand Program Offerings with Master’s in Cybersecurity and Master’s in Integrative Criminology Web Director | November 8, 2017

WATERVILLE, MAINE, November 2017 — Thomas College is expanding its program offerings with two new Master’s programs in Cybersecurity and Integrative Criminology beginning in the Fall of 2018.

“We are thrilled to be offering these graduate programs at Thomas College,” said Thomas College Provost Thomas Edwards. “Students will get a chance to learn from some of the best – and in fields that are in high demand.”

Nationally, there is a shortage of cybersecurity professionals, leaving employers struggling to fill more than 200,000 cyber-related roles. The Master’s in Cybersecurity at Thomas will provide students with the skills to secure, protect, and defend valuable data. The program draws on current best practices, framework, and knowledge domains supported by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (Cybersecurity Framework), NSA, and DHS (Center of Academic Excellence), ISC² (CBK for the CISSP and CCSP), and ACM (Security).

Graduates of this program will be able to land jobs in homeland security, cyber law and ethics, risk analysis and decision-making, cyber engineering, cybersecurity operations, and cyber investigations.

Thomas College is the only Maine college offering a Master’s degree in Criminology. This degree embeds psychology, sociology, and political science with the study of criminology and applies its lessons to crime and criminal justice in the 21st century.

“The field of criminology is complex, so the integrated approach in this program allows students to draw on all these fields to inform their careers,” said Provost Edwards.

The Master’s in Integrative Criminology will enhance opportunities for advancement and upward mobility in careers in the criminal justice field. The program provides students the skills to work in criminal justice agencies in policy, planning, and management in the private or public sector.
