WATERVILLE, MAINE, July 2018 — Thomas College is set to celebrate its 125th anniversary this year.
Thomas College has a rich history of innovation and reinvention. The College was founded in 1894 as Kiest Business College on Main Street in Waterville. After several name iterations and a move to the John Ware home on Silver Street in 1956, the College opened its current campus on the banks of the historic Kennebec River in 1971. Since then, Thomas has grown exponentially in programming, enrollment, services, and facilities.
Thomas College will celebrate through the year with various events – kicking off with Homecoming and Family Weekend on October 12-14 and ending with 125th Commencement in May 2019.
“As we prepare to celebrate our quasquicentennial, we pause to appreciate our humble roots and to thank the faculty, staff, and leaders whose hard work, tenacity, and vision have led to the dynamic growth of the College,” said President Laurie G. Lachance. “Though we have grown so much throughout the last 125 years, one thing that hasn’t changed is our dedication to providing students with success in their personal and professional lives. It has been my greatest honor to lead this college and to help create our vision for growth.”
