FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thomas College student earns American Association of University Women Award
WATERVILLE, September 2016 — Thomas College senior, Chelsea Hale, was awarded the American Association of University Women Award. The AAUW Award is a one-year membership in the American Association of University Women. AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
“One of the goals of AAUW is to prepare talented young women to take on leadership roles in their professional lives. The Waterville Branch is pleased to present this year’s student membership award to Chelsea Hale, a senior at Thomas College. Hale, who is majoring in Political Science with minors in Pre-law and Accounting, is from Moreno Valley, California,” said AAUW campus rep and Thomas College English professor Kelly Mechling.
Hale, who is majoring in Political Science with minors in Pre-law and Accounting, is from Moreno Valley, California. She plans to attend Law School after graduating from Thomas.
Thomas College is college partner of the AAUW. Each year in the spring, a rising senior is chosen based on their leadership abilities or potential and their interest in women’s issues. Students may become e-affiliate members for free.
Meetings are held monthly from September through May, typically the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm at Colby College.
