Thomas Esports Travels to the Largest North East Gaming Events of the Season Web Director | April 5, 2019

Over this past week, the Thomas Esports teams embarked on their end of season trips. Starting on Thursday, the Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow 6, and Smash Ultimate teams travelled to PAX East, an annual convention and the largest gaming of its kind held on the east coast. While the teams were not competing at the event, it gave the players valuable exposure to the esports industry at its upper-most limits. At PAX the players had access to an exhibition floor of over 380 gaming companies and organizations, and over 30 panels of industry experts and professionals.

Moving into the weekend, the teams that did not attend PAX, Fortnite and League of Legends, travelled to their ECAC season play-offs in Albany, NY. At the play-off, hosted at Hudson Valley Gamer Con, the teams competed in brackets of up to 16 regional college teams. On the day of the event our Fortnite team fell to eventual semi-finalists Mansfield University in a hard-fought 3-2 match, and our League of Legends team fell to eventual finalists Stockton University.

Many of the players had never participated in a travel-competition environment before and they all gained valuable insight and experience into the world of esports. With the close of the season, Thomas Esports is excited to move towards the fall semester with huge promise on the horizon.
