Press Release
UPDATE: Resumption of Normal Campus Operations MacKenzie Riley Young | October 29, 2023

To the Thomas College community,

Tomorrow, Monday, October 30, 2023, our College will fully return to normal operations.

  • All classes resume
  • Normal campus and building access
  • All campus events resume.  New times for postponed events will be communicated by the department hosting them
  • Practices and athletic games resume

Over the coming weeks, the College will share its community plans to honor, remember, and grieve for the victims and all those impacted by this senseless act of violence.

I want to recognize the members of the Thomas College community who worked tirelessly to ensure the mental and physical safety of our students, faculty, and staff.  The Department of Safety and Security, Student Success, Student Affairs, our mental and physical health professionals on campus, and our faculty and staff who reached out to students, all showed us that even during periods of tragedy and uncertainty, care, compassion, and attention to duty can shine through the darkest of clouds weighing on our hearts.

As we begin the collective healing and recovery process and the full scope of the impact of this event on our community becomes clear, a reminder that the College’s mental health support services are available for those students who need it and if you or someone you care about is in crisis, please call the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or call 911.  You can also dial the Maine Crisis and Support hotline at 1-888-568-1112 (Voice) or 711 (Maine Relay).

With my deepest respect,
