WATERVILLE, ME -- October 5, 2008

The Thomas College men's soccer team played against Southern Maine Community College Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field in Waterville, ME. The Terriers were able to outscore SMCC by two goals and come away with a 3-1 victory.

The Terriers got on the board first when sophomore Andrew Pelletier beat SMCC goalkeeper Matt Richio with a quick shot off of a rebound. Midway through the first half, Corey Underwood would find Jonathan Klippert, who scored the second goal of the contest. SMCC would cut the lead in half with a goal from Alex Jenkins with fifteen minutes to play in the half. Jordan Nichols was credited with the assist. In the second half, Andrew Pelletier would score his second unassisted goal of the game to give Thomas a 3-1 advantage.

Thomas goalkeeper James Gorneau recorded one save in the game, while teammates Keegan Curtin recorded two and Anthony Wheeler recorded one. Matt Richio of SMCC recorded seven saves in the defeat. The Terrier's next game will be on Wednesday, October 8 when they travel to New Hampshire Technical Institute.

 

WATERVILLE, ME -- October 5, 2008

The Thomas College women's soccer team hosted Southern Maine Community College Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field in Waterville, ME. The Terriers won the contest by the final score of 4-0.

Stephanie Walsh scored the first goal for the Terriers fifteen minutes into the match. The goal came off a pass from Jamie Lockett. Lockett would add a goal of her own late in the first half when she beat SMCC goalkeeper Cheyanne Larsen. The score was 2-0 at halftime. In the second half, Lockett added her second unassisted goal of the game. Terissa Ridge would also add a goal for Thomas when she lofted one over Larsen to put the Terriers up 4-0.

Thomas goalkeeper Jess Nassetta recorded her second consecutive shutout and racked up three saves in the victory. Cheyanne Larsen of SMCC recorded six saves. Thomas' next game will be on Thursday, October 9 when they will take on the University of Maine at Augusta in Augusta, ME.
