Thomas Summer Camps: Wilderness Skills & Outdoor Leadership

Wilderness Skills & Outdoor Leadership Camp

Date: Jun. 27 – Jul. 2, 2026

This immersive summer camp gives students practical skills for safely navigating, living, and leading outdoors. Through a balance of instruction, scenario-based learning, and field application, students build confidence, decision-making ability, and environmental responsibility.

K9 Searching & Detecting Camp

Date: Jul. 12 – Jul. 17, 2026
Place: 180 West River Rd., Waterville, ME 04901

This immersive residential summer camp introduces Maine high school students to the science, practice, and professional applications of K9 searching and detection. Through a combination of classroom learning and supervised fieldwork, students explore how working dogs detect scent, learn tasks, and operate alongside human handlers in real-world environments. 

Students work in small teams and gain direct, hands-on experience with trained K9s while learning the scientific principles that guide modern detection and search work.

Adult Working Canine Training Camp

Date: Jul. 19 – Jul. 24, 2026
Place: 180 West River Rd., Waterville, ME 04901

The Adult Working Canine Training Camp is a five-day systematic education and training seminar that teaches participants to correctly administer, score, interpret, and communicate the Brownell-Marsolais Instrument (BMI). At the conclusion of the seminar, attendees will be able to translate their findings into the proper selection of K9s for Search-and-Rescue (SAR), detection, competition, and therapeutic working assignments.
