Thomas College’s Privacy Policy is located clearly in the footer of the website, which appears on every page of the site, and complies with stated CalOPPA & PIPEDA requirements for disclosures, information usage, and privacy protections.
WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT?
Our institution collects personally identifiable information including: name, address, email address, phone number, high school information, academic and sport interest information, name of employer, and other optional, user-provided demographic information.
HOW DO WE COLLECT YOUR DATA?
Our website collects data in two places: (1) Our online contact form; and (2) undergraduate and graduate requests for information forms. We may also collect data when you email us at [email protected] or when you call our welcome center.
HOW WILL WE USE YOUR DATA?
The data that we collect is used solely to provide a better experience online, provide you with requested information, or to answer questions or address concerns you submitted through our contact form. As a student or family member of Thomas College, we may also use your information to email you news, updates, event information, or other institutional or relevant information. We will never rent, sell, give, divulge, or otherwise share the information you provide to us. We do not rent, sell, or give information to third parties.
HOW DO WE STORE YOUR DATA?
No personally identifiable or any other kind of personal information is stored in the website database. The Thomas.edu website uses secure socket layers (SSL) throughout the entire site to encrypt any information you provide. Information you provide is stored securely on internal servers that reside behind a multi-layered firewall and is further protcted by “only necessary” access.
MARKETING
We send emails to students, family, alumni, and staff through our Slate CRM system. Anyone who requests information, submits a contact request, or initiates an application is automatically enrolled in our email contact campaigns. You may opt-out directly by clicking the unsubscribe link in email communications, you can email us requesting to be opted-out, or you can call us at 1-207-859-1111 to request removal from automated email communications.
YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS
We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Within GDPR, every user is entitled to the following:
- The right to access– You have the right to request Our Institution for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
- The right to rectification– You have the right to request that Our Institution correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request Our College to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
- The right to erasure– You have the right to request that Our Institution erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing– You have the right to request that Our College restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to object to processing– You have the right to object to Our College’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to data portability– You have the right to request that Our Institution transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
