A seasoned leader in higher education and a distinguished professor of classics, President Uzzi is widely recognized for her dedication to expanding access to the life-changing benefits of a college degree for students, their families, and their communities.

President Uzzi brings a wealth of experience to the role of president.  She joined Thomas College from Adler University where she served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs leading the university’s strategic visioning, planning, and communications.

Prior to Adler, she served as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Southern Maine (USM). There she played a pivotal role in guiding the institution out of financial difficulties, revitalizing faculty engagement in governance, and shaping a forward-looking academic vision. Under her leadership, USM saw significant gains in student enrollment, retention, and graduation rates.

President Uzzi chaired both the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures and the Faculty Senate and was repeatedly recognized for fostering a culture of student success and belonging, ensuring that all students have the support they need to thrive academically and personally.

Before her role at USM, she served as Director of Faculty Programs for the Associated Colleges of the South, where she coordinated collaborative initiatives across 16 independent colleges. President Uzzi’s contributions to scholarship are equally impressive. She has authored two books with Cambridge University Press, along with numerous other academic and popular works on topics ranging from Roman political ideology to Latin lyric poetry. Her expertise extends beyond the academic sphere, as she has frequently spoken and written on the real-world applications of her discipline. In recognition of her advocacy for academic advising, she received NACADA’s Michael C. Holen Pacesetter Award in 2020. Two years later, USM honored her with the Nancy K. Gish Award for Excellence in Feminist Social, Intellectual, Political, and Cultural Practice.
