Guaranteed Job Program

A Job After Graduation, Guaranteed

Thomas sets itself apart from other colleges with our Guaranteed Job Program™. We’re so confident in the relevance of our students’ education that we can guarantee they will find a job within six months of graduation.

Thomas College’s Guaranteed Job Program (GJP) provides structured support to help students prepare for successful employment. If a student fulfills all program requirements and is not employed or offered employment of any kind within six months of graduation, Thomas College will provide one of the following:

  • Loan Support: Reimbursement of the amortized monthly payment amount on all federally subsidized loans for a period of up to twelve months, or until employment is secured, whichever occurs first. *

    OR

  • Graduate Education: Enrollment, tuition-free, in up to six (6) online/evening master-level courses at Thomas College while unemployed.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must complete all of the following requirements to be eligible for GJP benefits. Requirements are organized in a Canvas LMS course and must be fulfilled prior to graduation unless otherwise noted.

Academic Requirements (Upon Graduating)

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 25 at graduation.
  • Completion of at least 60 credits at Thomas College.
  • No outstanding balance on student accounts. Students must not be in default on any student loans.

Career Development (PCD) Requirements

  • Complete an intake appointment with a Professional & Career Development (PCD) staff member prior to earning 45 credits (excluding transfer/dual enrollment credits) and officially enroll in the program.
  • Complete all requirements on the GJP Canvas platform.
  • Work with an assigned Career Navigator.
  • Participate in at least two Career Readiness activities offered by PCD (or arrange an alternative if participating in an off-campus internship or practicum.
  • Attend two Career Fairs related to field of study during the final two semesters.
  • Complete a networking initiative by conducting an informational interview with a professional in the chosen field.
  • Meet monthly with PCD staff during the final semester to engage in job search activities, refine application materials, pursue networking, and receive CliftonStrengths coaching.
  • After graduation, meet with PCD and document jobs applied to monthly until employment is obtained.

Internship Requirement

  • Completion of a credit-bearing internship of at least 150 hours (including student teaching or Criminal Justice Academy training).

Professional Readiness Project (Based on NACE Competencies)

Students must complete a project demonstrating initiative, communication skills, and work ethic. Projects require prior approval by PCD and must be completed before the final semester. Students must submit documentation in the GJP Canvas portal. Examples include:

  • Earning an industry-recognized credential of value
  • Conducting a mentored research project
  • Participation in the Thomas Innovation Challenge
  • Supporting a cause or service initiative
  • Assisting an organizational leader
  • Addressing a community or organizational need
  • Designing a program or event
  • Earning a minimum of two Thomas College Digital Badges through the college’s digital badging program

*Loan Payment

Students will be required to provide documentation evidencing their loan payments. The loan repayment benefit will expire if not activated by the beginning of the second semester following the student’s graduation date and may continue only for a period of up to one year. The Standard Repayment Plan is the basic repayment plan for loans with fixed interest rates from the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program and Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program. Payments are fixed and made for 10 or more years (between 10 and 30 years for consolidation loans). Thomas College will only cover the repayment of loans for the portion of tuition and fees that the student was responsible for and will not cover room, board, or additional borrowing.

Release of Liability

By participating in the Guaranteed Job Program, the student agrees to release and hold harmless Thomas College and its officers, directors, employees, and Board Members from and against all claims arising out of student’s participation in the Program, including without limitation their receipt or use of Program benefits.

Limit of Benefit

In no event shall Thomas College be liable to the student (1) for any amount greater than the sum of twelve months’ payments of their federally subsidized loans incurred while at Thomas College if they elect the benefit in Section 1.a., nor (2) to provide more tuition-free course enrollment than is stated above if they elect the benefit in Section 1.b. The benefit elected by the student shall be their exclusive and sole remedy. Student waives their right to consequential, incidental, and other damages, which are expressly excluded.

Tax Implications

Payments made under the GJP may be considered taxable and subject to federal and state taxes. Thomas College may report, as required by applicable statutes or regulations, the value of the benefits and the identity of Program participants to appropriate taxing authorities. Participants are responsible for all taxes associated with their receipt and use of Program benefits.

Termination

Thomas College reserves the right to terminate the Program or disqualify any participant at any time.
