Hailing from Bailey Island, Maine, Lisa Hibl attended Bowdoin College, and then pursued graduate studies in writing and literature. She completed an MFA in Poetry at Arizona State University and a PhD in Literature at Brandeis University. She loves to walk, garden, and swim in the ocean.
Areas of Interest & Expertise
Lisa has taught a variety of classes in composition and the literary arts for more than two decades, often with a focus on environmental ethics. Most recently, she led a learning community at the University of Southern Maine for new and returning students looking to make strong academic and social connections. She loves to collaborate on pedagogical and creative projects.

Community Involvement
Lisa has created learning partnerships for college students with local land trusts, elementary and middle schools, and with Gateway Community Services in Portland.
