Jamie Campbell loves helping students find their passion and success while at Thomas College and well after they graduate.

“I get excited when reminiscing on the successes of Thomas College over the past eight years and when thinking of the many students’ lives who have benefited from attending,” he says.

Jamie joined Thomas College’s H. Allen Ryan School of Business as an assistant professor in 2012. He teaches business courses, primarily accounting related, to both accounting and non-accounting majors.

Jamie has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant for 28 years – mostly for public accounting firms, with about seven years spent in the private sector. He brings that experience into the classroom.

“My decision to start teaching came in my late twenties as a result of interactions with a colleague who was taking a continuing education course at a local college,” Jamie recalls. “My colleague was disappointed with several aspects of the course. Since I knew the department chair at the college, my colleague asked me to relay his concerns. In doing so, the department chair recruited me to teach the course for the following semester. I loved it! I have been instructing either part time or full time ever since.”

Jamie says Thomas College’s accounting faculty consider it a privilege to go the “extra mile” to ensure student success. And, it shows.

“The opportunities in the accounting profession are numerous. Several students are leaving the College with multiple job offers. In addition to initial job offers, the accounting profession offers a lifetime of opportunities for career advancement following a variety of different pathways.”

Jamie says he thoroughly enjoys working at Thomas College. His favorite part is interacting with students and watching them grow academically and professionally.

Jamie would like to give a shout-out to two recently retired accounting professors, Joe Donato and Peter Gilbert: “I want to thank both for welcoming me to Thomas eight years ago. We developed a relationship and friendship that I will cherish forever. Thank you, both.”
