The Passing of Colleague and Friend Steve Loder MacKenzie Riley Young | January 26, 2021

To the Thomas College Community,

Steve Loder

It is with profound sadness that I must share that our beloved colleague and friend, Steve Loder, passed away yesterday, January 25, 2021.

Steve “the Egg-Man” will forever be remembered for his years of kindness and his deep, honest care for everyone in our community which is a lasting gift to us all.  Over the more than 11 years working for Sodexo in our dining center, Steve was loved by all for his smile, his unwavering positivity, and fierce dedication to his role that brought together our community to share a meal, a story, and a laugh.

Steve was also a tremendous supporter of our Thomas College athletic programs.  He was a constant presence in the front row at basketball games and could nearly always be found leaning on the fence at our soccer, baseball, or field hockey games shouting words of encouragement.  Steve loved our Terriers, and they loved him back.

Steve embodied everything that is positive at Thomas College.  Your successes on the playing field, in the classroom, at graduation, or even in your career as an alumnus brought him genuine joy and selfless happiness for you

Steve’s presence will be greatly missed on campus but his lessons on positivity and kindness will forever be a part of the heart of this community.

Students that need support during this difficult time are encouraged to reach out to Carol Jollotta, LCSW, counselor [email protected].

With my deepest condolences to Steve’s family at home and at work,

Laurie G. Lachance, President
