Michael Schrimpf, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Biology

Biography

My research background is in ecology, with a diversity of interests in species distributions, aquatic ecosystems, and bird biology. Fundamentally, I am fascinated by why organisms are located where they are, and how new sources of data (especially “citizen”/participatory science) can expand our knowledge of those patterns. My work has taken me all over the world, from remote islands in the tropical Pacific to Antarctica. I have also been involved with undergraduate education in many different contexts, and students in my classes can expect to be active participants in the scientific process.
