Calotica Oppong ’26 recently earned a spot in the competitive 12-week Bangor Savings Bank summer internship program.

Calotica will be working on a paid, project-based assignment, contribute to real-world technology solutions, and deliver a capstone project to the Bank’s leadership team. The internship also includes weekly meetings with professionals from across the Bank, providing valuable insight into how different departments work together and how technology supports the organization as a whole.
“I’m especially excited about applying what I’ve learned in the classroom to real IT challenges, expanding my technical skills, and learning from experienced professionals in the field. I’m also looking forward to the educational and networking opportunities through Maine Career Catalyst and Stay Work Play, and the chance to participate in community service projects with the Talent & Diversity team. Most of all, I’m excited to meet the team and contribute to meaningful work this summer,” she said.
She is very thankful to the Professional and Career Development Office who helped prepare her for the internship program application and interview process.
“Special thanks to Amanda and Kiara for their support—they were both amazing and made the whole process feel much more approachable and manageable,” said Calotica.
“My time at Thomas College played a big role in preparing me for this position. The hands-on learning approach in my computer science courses helped me build a strong foundation in technical skills, problem-solving, and real-world applications. Outside the classroom, being involved as a Community Assistant, an Office Assistant in Academic Affairs, and a member of the International Club gave me valuable experience in communication, leadership, and time management. These experiences helped me become more confident, adaptable, and prepared to contribute to a professional setting like Bangor Savings Bank,” she said.
