Five years after graduating from Thomas College, Tyler Bartlett ’20 is thriving in his career in IT and security. As a Senior Consultant with BerryDunn, Tyler utilizes his degrees in computer science and cybersecurity daily, and his connection and mentorship with his Thomas College professor Dr. Frank Appunn.

“I am proud that I have found a job that I really enjoy; a job in my field of study that keeps me on my toes, challenges me (in a good way), supports my professional development, and provides an environment where I can learn, grow, and thrive while surrounded by an amazing and supportive team,” said Tyler.
Tyler is also the Board President of InfraGard Maine, which is an FBI nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that mitigates criminal and terrorist threats, risks, and losses for the purpose of protecting our region’s critical infrastructure and the American people.
“While I might not have known this while I was going through classes at Thomas College, the curriculum was well-structured to familiarize me with the IT and security industry, control sets and frameworks, leading practices, and other supporting professional skills such as project management. My professors also did a great job of teaching me how to be a lifelong student,” said Tyler. “The cybersecurity landscape is constantly changing and evolving, so the ability to research, learn, and stay perpetually curious is important to stay on top of current trends, risks, and threats. My professors supported me throughout my college career and had a huge hand in jumpstarting my professional career. I still work with Frank Appunn on a regular basis to this day.”
Tyler Bartlett said Frank Appunn was the one who suggested he apply to his current job and get involved with InfraGard.
“While Thomas College was not my first choice initially, I am very happy it is where I ended up. I have no idea where I would be without the instruction, experience, and opportunities that continue to come from the Thomas community,” said Tyler.
