Ian Wilson is in his seventh year as the men’s and women’s head track & field coach at Thomas College. The Terriers won the Men’s North Atlantic Conference Championship for the 2022/23 outdoor season, the first championship in program history. In 2022/23 the Terriers, led by Wilson, had 24 All-Conference selections across both men’s and women’s track & field teams.
The Terriers became a varsity team in the 2018-19 season, with both men’s and women’s teams finishing third in their first conference championships with 15 All-Conference selections.
Prior to coaching at Thomas, Wilson was an assistant at Colby College for two years, where he coached an All-American in the Indoor Pentathlon.
Before moving to the collegiate coaching ranks, Wilson coached for 22 years in Maine high schools where he guided 25 teams to track & field state championships, and another 3 to soccer state titles. Between soccer and track, he coached 8 high school All-Americans.
Ian Wilson graduated from Bates College with a degree in Philosophy, and he earned an MS in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Permian Basin. He holds a Level 1 USATF certificate, and Level 2 certificates in Endurance, Jumps and Sprints. He has completed the USTFCCCA Master’s Jumps program, S&C program, and Advanced Speed & Strength program.
