Owen Fish ’25, M.B.A. ’26: Building on a Thomas College Foundation

For Owen Fish ’25, M.B.A. ’26, the decision to continue his education reflects a commitment to growth and a deep appreciation for the foundation he has built at Thomas College. As an alumnus continuing into graduate study, Fish sees his academic journey as an extension of the personal and professional development that began during his undergraduate years.

Thomas College graduate student Owen Fish credits Thomas for his career preparedness through hands-on experience and mentorship

“I chose to pursue my graduate studies because I wanted to continue to push myself beyond my B.S in Sport Management, and I felt that it would be the best decision for me to grow on a professional level and enhance my chances of landing a well-paying job,” said Owen.

Remaining at Thomas was a natural next step, one shaped by opportunity and trust in an institution that has consistently supported his goals. Last spring, Owen accepted a position as Graduate Assistant for Sports Information and Athletic Communications, allowing him to further apply his education in a real-world collegiate athletics setting.

For Owen, Thomas College represents more than a place of study, it is a community that has shaped his identity as a professional and a leader. His decision to continue studying at Thomas was also rooted in gratitude and loyalty to the relationships he has built over the years.

“Also, I think another major part of the decision was wanting to finish what I started with the school that feels like home. I am passionate about Thomas, and the bonds that I have created with professors, co-workers, and students at Thomas. Thomas has helped me so much in the past four years, and I am extremely thankful for the strong education, professional experiences, and mentorship that I have received along the way,” he said.

Reflecting on his experience, Owen credits Thomas with providing the hands-on learning and mentorship that continue to shape his career readiness and confidence.

“I think that the extensive hands-on experiences and mentorship I received here at Thomas will also make the transition very smooth for me once I land a job!”

In his graduate assistant role, Owen remains committed to giving back to the Thomas community that invested in him—supporting student-athletes and coaches while strengthening the athletic program.

“My current goal as graduate assistant is to continue providing the best possible experience for our student athletes and coaching staff here at Thomas,” said Owen.

Looking ahead, Owen’s professional aspirations reflect both ambition and a strong connection to his alma mater. After completing his master’s, he hopes to find a job in athletics at the collegiate level or semi-professional sports team in Maine.

As Owen continues his journey, his story reflects the lasting impact of a Thomas College education—one grounded in mentorship, experiential learning, and a lifelong connection to the Thomas community.
