If Thomas students, faculty, or staff need a smile, they know they can turn to colleague Kerry Smart or coaches Andrea Thebarge and Deb Biche-Labbe. The coworkers and friends each care deeply about students’ successes, whether in athletics, the classroom, or life. That same spirit      inspired them to donate to the College’s Guarantee the Future Campaign. Each made a personal    gift – and agreed that to increase their impact, they would match any dollars contributed to the creation of the new athletic facility, up to a total of $20,000. To date, more than $6,000 has been     donated towards the match.

“I am so grateful to be able to join my fellow Thomas colleagues who I consider family to help make this dream a reality,” says Kerry Smart, Development Officer for Athletics, of her and her family’s commitment to the Guarantee the Future Campaign. “Thomas has given me so much personally and professionally. To be able to give back even just a little means the world to me.”

The facility, planned as an 18,000-square-foot space overlooking Smith and Bernatchez Fields at the Kennebec Savings Turf Field Complex, will house coaches’ offices, training space, an Esports area, locker rooms, and restrooms.

“I am truly honored to be able to give to the Campaign,” adds Andrea Thebarge M.S. ‘14, Field Hockey Coach and Assistant Athletic Director. “This new facility is going to provide a place for our student-athletes to call home and will help bring our athletic coaches and staff together.”

With more than $6,000 raised to date, the trio hopes that more individuals will consider joining in the effort by December 31. “Every dollar helps bring this project closer to reality,” notes Smart.
