Student Clubs and Organizations

Active Minds:

Active Minds at Thomas College is dedicated to saving lives and to building stronger families and communities. Through education, research, advocacy, and focus on young adults ages 14-25, Active Minds is opening the conversation about mental health and creating lasting change in the way mental health is talked about, cared for, and valued in the United States.

Alpha Chi Honor Society:

A national college honor society that admits, by invitation, the top 10% of juniors and seniors from all academic disciplines; it promotes and honors academic excellence and exemplary character.

Art Club:

The Art Club strives to offer creative outlets for students to express themselves. Programs center around collaborative creation of art through exploration, creativity, and fun.

CAB (Campus Activities Board):

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) is a student group responsible for programming campus-wide social and cultural activities. CAB members plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of most special event programming that occurs throughout the year. Membership is open to all students wishing to have a voice in the types of events sponsored on campus.

Career Navigators:

The Career Navigators assist the student body with peer-to-peer career help, ranging from resume and cover letter review, career advice, and internship inquiries to students who submit satisfactory evidence of applying the concepts of the skill they are seeking a badge for. Students must be selected to participate.

Community Assistants:

Community Assistants (CAs) are undergraduate student staff who live in the residence halls and act as peer advisers, resources, and programmers to resident students. Their primary responsibility is getting to know the students they live with and helping them to make the most of their Thomas College experience by fostering a sense of community. The CAs are knowledgeable about the College and campus resources, make rounds within the buildings when serving as the CA on duty for their building/area, provide programming opportunities for the residents and can mediate roommate and floor issues as needed. Students must be selected to participate.

CRU:

CRU’s goal is to bring the gospel to Thomas College and the greater Waterville area. The group hosts regular Bible studies and worship nights for the campus community.

Dance Team:

This Performing Arts organization provides the opportunity for students to learn various dance styles and perform them for the campus and community. The director provides a comfortable, relaxed, and energetic atmosphere for students to learn and develop.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate:

Members will develop vocational competencies in business as well as civic and personal responsibility. Programming includes sponsored speakers, a joint professional conference with students at other business institutions’ social events throughout the year, and maintains a liaison with area high schools.

Gaming Club:

For students who enjoy any type of gaming, whether that be console, PC-based, board and card gaming, or all the above, Gaming Club hosts gaming hangouts and tournaments on campus.

International Club:

Open to all students wishing to share a global experience with fellow Thomas College students, the club promotes diversity and inclusion through fun and educational campus events and activities in which participants can share aspects of their cultural backgrounds.

Investment Society:

The Investment Society promotes investment literacy at Thomas College through programs, lectures, forums, and study groups. Membership is open to all students, regardless of major.

JMG:

Open to all students, regardless of JMG status, this club helps students grow their skill sets through community outreach, leadership/career opportunities, and volunteer work.

Morgan’s Message:

Morgan’s Message organization that strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics. They aim to expand the dialogue on mental health by normalizing conversations, empowering those who suffer in silence, and supporting those who feel alone.

NIL Club:

For any student interested in support with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), this club helps students build their public-facing brand.

Orientation Leaders:

Orientation Leaders (OL) are selected in the spring to help plan and later implement the Summer, Fall, and Winter orientation programs for incoming students. OL selections are based upon a student’s demonstrated potential for student leadership and involvement at Thomas College. The OL Team participates in a leadership training program during August to assist them in their development as student leaders. Students must be selected to participate.

Peer Academic Leaders:

PALs provide weekly student-led workshops for students in approved Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) courses. They guide the students through material provided by the course professor that is essential to students’ understanding of the course and essential to doing well on course exams. In the workshops, students, under the direction of a PAL, gain the opportunity to practice what has been taught in class that week and assess their own understanding of class topics well ahead of exams or major projects. Students must be selected to participate.

Peer Tutors:

Peer Tutors assist students in a wide array of subjects. Peer Tutors receive extensive training so they can help students develop their academic skills, prepare for quizzes and exams, and plan how to approach papers and other projects. Students must be selected to participate.

Queer Frequencies:

Queer Frequencies is Thomas College’s LGBTQIA+ student run collective that focuses on community building and social support amongst queer students, in addition to education and capacity building around LGBTQIA+ advocacy for the entire campus community.

Rotaract:

A group tied to Rotary; membership regularly participates in service projects that make an impact in the local community. Rotaract fosters professional and leadership skill development opportunities as well.

Science Club:

This group offers activities and experiences to broaden students understanding and appreciation of science topics.

Social Media Ambassadors:

Social Media Ambassadors serve as the trusted voices in our community, lending credibility and authenticity to our college’s narrative on our various social media accounts. Ambassadors create content that fosters engagement in an authentic and relatable way. Students must be selected to participate.

Special Olympics Club:

The Special Olympics Club coordinates on-campus Special Olympics competitions and promotes inclusivity on campus. The club supports and advances Special Olympics initiatives and promotions when necessary.

Student Ambassadors:

The first voice and face of Thomas College, ambassadors provide a warm welcome and campus tours to prospective students, families, and alumni, sharing college facts, their personal story, and how Thomas College has provided opportunities for them to learn and grow. Ambassadors are a vital part of the Admissions staff as well as the entire college community. Students must be selected to participate.

Student Athlete Advisory Committee:

Members promote a positive student-athlete image and facilitate communication between student-athletes and the administration. The group also plans and co-sponsors events, activities, and community service efforts on and off campus.

Student Philanthropy Team:

SPT aims for peer-to-peer education about philanthropy, while also raising money for the Thomas Fund. The group organizes unique fundraisers to enhance the Thomas experience for all.

Student Psychological Association:

For students interested in psychology, this group participates in discussions and fun activities that spark curiosity and connection.

Student Senate:

Elected annually by the student body, it is the governing body for all students. Working closely with representatives of the College administration and faculty, Student Senate members inform them of student opinions and reactions while also representing their peers in the formation and execution of policies concerning general welfare. It also assists with funding for student clubs and groups. Students must be elected to participate.

Theatre Club:

The mission of Theatre Club is to promote and encourage involvement with and appreciation of the dramatic arts in the Thomas College community through theatrical events and productions.

Thomas College Republicans:

Members of the Thomas College Republicans encourage active citizenship in the political processes that define the United States. Members will have the opportunity to meet other members of College Republicans through networking and conventions while also serving as advocates for voting and political activisms on campus.

Thomas Sustainability Association:

This group is focused on bringing awareness about and demonstrating sustainable practices that students can implement in their lives.
