Thomas College Launches Groundbreaking AI Course in Cybersecurity MacKenzie Riley Young | June 25, 2024

Waterville, ME, JUNE 2024 — Thomas College proudly announces the addition of a pioneering Artificial Intelligence (AI) course to its esteemed Master of Science in Cybersecurity program. Artificial Intelligence Implications for Cybersecurity marks the first graduate-level AI course of its kind offered in the state.

Designed to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge and skills, this course delves into the transformative impact of AI on organizational value creation, ethical standards enforcement, and defense against digital threats, both local and global. Through a blend of theoretical insights and hands-on practice, participants will explore current and projected AI technologies crucial for effective cybersecurity solutions.

“AI is revolutionizing the cybersecurity landscape, and our program ensures students are at the forefront of this evolution,” says Thomas College Cybersecurity professor Dr. Frank Appunn. “This course will prepare professionals to navigate the complexities of AI adoption, mitigate risks, and harness its potential to bolster organizational security.”

As a core requirement in the 30-credit graduate program, Artificial Intelligence Implications for Cybersecurity underscores Thomas College’s commitment to providing students with the skills demanded by today’s cybersecurity industry. With a track record of excellence since 2019, Thomas College’s Master of Science in Cybersecurity program boasts a network of alumni occupying key positions nationwide.

The course will be taught by business technology leader and expert Dr. Cynthia Marcello who holds a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership with a specialization in Information Systems and Technology, a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in E-Business, and a Master of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
