Thomas College’s Thomas Esports Competitor Jasmine Kermode Receives Gravity Gaming’s National Esports Scholarship

WATERVILLE, MAINE, June 2020 — Thomas College student and Thomas Esports competitor, Jasmine Kermode, of Rockville, Connecticut, recently received Gravity Gaming’s National Esports Scholarship.

In an effort to increase technology access and reward outstanding individuals in high school and collegiate esports during this trying time, Gravity Gaming, the Esports arm of IT solution provider ByteSpeed, partnered with HyperX to open applications for an esports scholarship. The recipients of the scholarship receive a suite of esports-capable gear including a high-spec Atlas Extreme Laptop, gaming headset, mouse, keyboard, and backpack; worth well over $1,750.

Out of hundreds of applicants from across the nation, the Gravity Gaming organizers narrowed it down to six recipients – one of them, Thomas College Overwatch player, Jasmine Kermode.

“Jasmine, who plays under the in-game moniker ‘Griseous,’ stands out from the crowd as an incredible example of a scholar gamer. With a cumulative GPA over 3.9 and as a multi-season ECAC All-Academic competitor, she shows just how successful players can be both academically, and competitively in esports,” said Thomas Esports coach Martin Schelasin.

Beyond her academics and participation in esports, Jasmine is also a prolific contributor to Thomas’ vibrant campus life as an officer in numerous clubs and frequent open mic night performer. Jasmine will be returning to Thomas this fall to complete her Bachelor’s in both Criminal Justice and Forensic Psychology.
