First Year Experience (FY110)
Enhancing Students' First Year Experience
The First Year Experience course promotes the integration of the student experience as reflected in the mission of the College: to prepare students for success in their personal and professional lives and for leadership and service in the community.
First year Experience Course (FY110)
The college experience differs from high school experiences. This first year course helps guide students to make the most of their academic
efforts and offers insight on unique activities that students can pursue outside of the normal course of study (called, co-curricular activities). Combining in-class and out-of-class experiences, FY110 equips students to launch their collegiate and professional journeys successfully.
During the course students will:
- Develop an understanding and appreciation of the mission and traditions of Thomas College
- Engage with key campus resources
- Create individualized personal and professional development plans
- Recognize the standards of our living-learning community, especially those related to diversity, sexual misconduct, and substance
- Explore leadership development
