Transfer Students
Information for Transfer Students
Changing colleges was never easier. No matter where your journey began, Thomas College can be your pathway to a Promising FutureTM, guaranteed!
We’re glad you’re thinking about finishing your studies at Thomas College, and we believe Thomas has what you’re looking for.
Whether you’re transferring from a community college, looking for a better fit, or exploring more affordable options, we’re here to bring your promising future within reach.
And now, with the Maine Transfer Guarantee Program, transferring from community college to Thomas College has never been easier.
Applying for Transfer Admission
Thomas College receives transfer students from in-state and out-of-state community colleges and universities every semester. To help you decide if Thomas is a good fit for you, we make the transcript evaluation process simple.
If you have not already applied to Thomas, submit your official college transcripts for credit evaluation. A representative from the admissions office will reach out within three business days to discuss your evaluation.
Submit Your Application
Submit your application for undergraduate admission. We accept the Thomas College Application, which takes about ten minutes to complete, or the Common Application. You can choose which one you’d like to complete; both are treated equally in our selection process. International transfer applicants should refer to our international admissions process. Provide supporting documentation. This includes:
- Official Transcripts (from all high schools and all colleges previously attended)
- College Essay
- Letter of Recommendation (can be from an employer or a professor, instead of a teacher or guidance counselor)
Begin the Financial Aid Process
When you apply, we’ll automatically consider you for merit-based scholarships. Students seeking financial assistance other than merit-based scholarships should file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Thomas College (Title IV code 002052) as an authorized recipient of your information. Applicants will not receive a financial aid package until a course credit evaluation is completed. For more information, please visit our Financial Aid page or contact Student Financial Services.
Kiest Morgan Scholar: 3+1 Program
Because transfer students come into Thomas with existing credits, they are not eligible for the Kiest Morgan Scholar Program, also known as Thomas’ 3+1 Program, which is available to first-time, qualifying undergraduates.
However, transfer students are absolutely eligible to pursue a +1, one-year masters degree. You can achieve an accelerated bachelor’s and master’s degree as well!
Merit Scholarships
We’re committed to making this experience affordable for all students, and we offer a variety of merit scholarships for eligible full-time, undergraduate transfer students as well as our Welcome to Maine Scholarship for students who live outside of Maine:
