Bob Moore, Thomas College Trustee

WATERVILLE, MAINE, September 2024 — Thomas College is proud to announce that Bob Moore, of China, Maine, has joined its Board of Trustees. Moore is the Executive Director of the Augusta Food Bank.

He now returns to his alma mater to serve on the Board. Moore graduated from Thomas in 1979, and very successfully led the College’s Advancement team from 2010 to 2019.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bob back to Thomas. He will be an incredible addition to our talented and innovative Board of Trustees,” said President Laurie G. Lachance. “Bob has a deep passion for Thomas College and the central Maine area. Combined with his decades of experience in business and fundraising, Bob will be a huge asset.”

“It has been remarkable to see the growth in Thomas since I first arrived on campus in 1975,” said Moore. “As a student, the College provided me with a solid education and a bevy of lifelong friendships; as a staff member, I was privileged to work with some of the most talented and dedicated co-workers ever; and as a Board member, I am honored to help the College continue to prepare students for success in their professional and personal lives.”

Having lived, worked and served the Augusta and Waterville area communities for more than 45 years, Moore was hired as the Augusta Food Bank’s (AFB) Executive Director in January 2020.

Since joining the Augusta Food Bank, Moore has overseen a 100 percent growth in the food bank’s procurement and distribution of food, more than tripled financial support, and raised the visibility of the AFB and food insecurity as a whole.

A graduate of Thomas College, Moore’s career path has spanned a variety of management positions in footwear manufacturing, food service sales, utilities, construction, higher education and non-profit sectors.

Prior to joining the Augusta Food Bank, Moore was Thomas College’s Sr. VP of Advancement, overseeing the College’s development, alumni relations, career services, and event and conference services areas, leading two successful capital campaigns while increasing donor engagement and annual fundraising results five-fold.

Prior to Thomas College, Moore was the first employee of the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed, a nonprofit environmental and educational organization launched in 2003 that earned local, regional, and national recognition for its innovative approaches to programming and constituent engagement, with membership growing to over 6,500 members during his seven-year tenure.

Moore was a founding board member of Camp KV for Kids, past board member and treasurer of the KVYMCA, past chair and current treasurer of the Cony High School All-Sports Boosters, and spent over fifteen years coaching youth sports at the KVYMCA, Augusta East Little League, and Augusta Babe Ruth.  He was a member of Team Cony, a private citizen’s group that raised over $1.5M to help fund construction of the new Cony High School, was a member of the new Cony High School building committee, and led the fundraising efforts for Fuller Field, Cony’s new turf field.

Moore was inducted into the Thomas College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023, Kennebec Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 and honored as Le Club Calumet’s Outstanding Citizen in 2007.

Moore, his wife, Susan, and golden doodle, Abby, currently reside in South China, keeping busy with their four children and eight grandchildren.
