Laura Holden ’25 Turns Passion for the Outdoors into a Career

Thomas College recent graduate Laura Holden recently landed a job with Skowhegan Outdoors

Laura Holden ’25 is graduating this month from Thomas College and already has a job in her field. The Environmental Science graduate will begin her job as the Operations and Pathway Lead at Skowhegan Outdoors, a program of Main Street Skowhegan that offers free outdoor programming and gear.

Laura’s job will be to keep programs running smoothly by organizing events, managing gear, and handling behind-the-scenes logistics. The role also supports new leaders and volunteers.

“The role connects to my environmental degree because it involves outdoor education, community engagement, and responsible use of natural spaces. It gives real experience in helping people interact with the environment safely and sustainably,” said Laura.

“Thomas College prepared me for this job by building strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. It also gave me experience working with people and managing projects, which I will use every day in this role,” she said.
