Students interested in courtside careers participate in a Sport Management workshop and crossover alumni event

On February 14th, a vibrant merging of past and present unfolded as students interested in courtside careers participated in the Sport Management workshop and alumni crossover event that took center stage at the Maine Celtics. With 19 eager students and an equal number of accomplished alumni in attendance, the opportunity for dynamic exchanges of insights, experiences, networking connections, and career prospects were endless. The hope for students to have a night of professional development whilst also having a little fun!

The evening began with a lively networking session at Definitive Brewing Company, an establishment owned by esteemed alum, Mike Rankin MBA ’15. Students then transition to the workshop phase at the Maine Red Celtics. Spearheaded by two distinguished alumni, Joe Quinlan ’16 and Jasmine Bishop Rugira ‘14 who were able to share about their journeys. From their time at Thomas College to where they are now, how they got there, and advice they wish they had received as students. Speakers also included Dajuan Eubanks, President of the Maine Celtics and Jarell Christian, General Manager of the Maine Celtics, who had incredible insight into the world of NBA League careers.

Furthermore the Sport Management workshop and alumni crossover event exceeded its role as a mere academic exercise. It served as a testament to the community that is fostered here at Thomas College! A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed to making this event a resounding success, we look forward to the ripple effects it will undoubtedly create in shaping the future trajectory of our students’ careers.
