Sheridan Construction recently received a national award from the Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association for the Sukeforth Family Sports Center project. Sheridan officials presented Thomas College with the award on Wednesday, November 20 as a symbol of their long-time partnership. Thomas College will display this award in the building.

“Since the 1970’s, Sheridan and Thomas have been partners in building this great campus. While many names have changed over the 50+ years, the values and goals of both companies have remained the same. Both Sheridan and Thomas have helped each other improve and grow over the years and our relationship remains strong,” said Sheridan Construction President Dan Wildes. “A couple of years ago Sheridan and Thomas teamed up again to build this beautiful new building, The Sukeforth Family Sports Center. This building, with its many unique features, is the premier sports center in The North Atlantic Conference. The experience for all Thomas and visiting school athletes is professional, modern, and very exciting. Sheridan is very proud to have been a part of this great project.”
The Sukeforth Family Sports Center officially opened in Fall 2022. This versatile athletic facility, designed by SMRT Architects and built by Sheridan Construction Corporation and E.L. Vining & Son, Inc., encompasses 18,000 square feet for the College’s athletic and Esports programs.
“On behalf of Thomas College and Thomas Athletics, I want to say thank you to Sheridan for the long-time partnership in the growth of our campus and this beautiful building that student-athletes are proud to work and play in,” said Thomas College VP of Athletics Chris Parsons. “I also want to say a big thank you to the Sukeforth Family for their generosity in making this facility a possibility. Their support of Thomas College and Thomas Athletics is incredible, and we couldn’t support the number of student-athletes that we do without their help.”

Thomas College first began working with Sheridan Construction in the 1970s when the school moved its location to West River Road. Since then, Sheridan Construction has been involved in the construction and planning of almost every building on campus, with their most recent project being the Sukeforth Family Sports Center.
“I’d like to end with the sentiment that the Sukeforth Family Sports Center is a dream come true. And it’s a dream we’ve had for quite some time. I’ve been a part of the Thomas College community for more than two decades and it has been incredible to see the growth in athletics here – for programs, student athletes, staff and our state-of-the-art facilities,” said Parsons.
The Sukeforth Family Sports Center project was possible thanks to the hundreds of volunteers and donors who dedicated their time, talent, and philanthropy to the Guarantee the Future Campaign, which generated more than $30 million. The comprehensive effort raised funds for endowed and expendable scholarships, academic and student success programs, strategic partnerships, professional and career development, and the Thomas Fund.
