Dr. Debbie Cunningham, Senior Vice President of Student Success, is known for her dry sense of humor, data queen status, and high-level of commitment to the well-being of all Thomas College students.
Debbie Cunningham, an employee of the College for almost 18 years, is being recognized as this month’s Terrier STAR for providing an inspiring environment and personalized and experience, her care, and her sense of community.
“Debbie is always thinking of students, and everything she does is centered on serving Thomas College students using research-proven and data-driven solutions. Debbie also uses the same level of care to oversee those that work in her department. She ensures that we are fully supported, so we can have a big impact on students as well,” said a colleague.
“It is a literal DREAM to have Debbie as my direct supervisor. Since my first day on campus, I have known Debbie to be one of the most selfless and passionate staff members at Thomas. Every day I come to work, I know that I have someone who is not only dedicated to the mission and vision of our institution and the wellbeing of our students, but is also dedicated to the growth, care, and wellbeing of her entire staff. I am beyond lucky to have someone like Debbie in my corner,” said a coworker.
“What it’s like working with Debbie: Debbie always puts the person first in all situations, whether it’s student, staff, visitor, etc. She is compassionate to the people around her, she is always driven to ensure students are our first priority in decision making and is passionate about her work in Student Success at Thomas College. When I think of the ideal leader, I think of Debbie!” said another coworker.
“Debbie is supportive of all of the individuals that she supervises and has taught me the characteristics of what it means to be the best supervisor. When it comes to the students that we serve, she ALWAYS goes above and beyond to make sure they receive the support they need,” said a staff member.
“Debbie Cunningham is the most incredible boss. She does an extraordinary job keeping her team updated and goal focused. She also welcomes everyone’s unique personality and contributions to the team. One of the reasons I enjoy my job so much is because of her strong leadership! She has more than earned this award with her commitment to Thomas College!” said another staff member.
