Thomas College Launches Four New Academic Programs Web Director | September 8, 2022

Thomas College is excited to announce the addition of four new undergraduate academic programs for the Fall of 2022: Business and Liberal Arts, Entrepreneurship-Creativity and Innovation, Entrepreneurship-Intrapreneurship and Corporate Leadership, and Global Sustainability.

Students will be able to take advantage of these academic programs beginning this fall all of which are available to complete in three years or four.

Thomas College is the only school in Maine that offers the Business and Liberal Arts degree. This degree offering combines practicality and critical thinking in the schools of business and arts and sciences. This program has an emphasis on ethics, global citizenship, DEI, and sound managerial decision-making that will allow students to engage in the modern business climate.

The two new Entrepreneurship programs are part of a suite of three Entrepreneurship degree track offerings at the College including the already established Entrepreneurship-Small Business Management.

The Entrepreneurship-Creativity and Innovation degree centers on creating an idea that leads to a business opportunity. If you’re looking to start your own business, we will provide you with the tools, knowledge, and the experiences that will lead to success in your business ventures; you just bring the dream. This degree is project-based from semester to semester to give you tangible experience and deliverable at the end of your academic journey.

Entrepreneurship-Intrapreneurship and Corporate Leadership is all about creating an idea within a company. Intrapreneurs are strategic thinkers in a business who want to make change within. Does this sound like you? This degree will provide you with the tools, knowledge, and the experiences that will lead to success in your business ventures; you just bring the dream. This degree is project-based from semester to semester to give you tangible experience and deliverable at the end of your academic journey.

For all of our business majors, including our three Entrepreneurship degrees, students are able to take advantage of The Harold Alfond® Institute for Business Innovation at Thomas College, which offers students innovation challenges; workshops and seminars, memberships in Phi Beta Lambda, Society for Advancement of Management, and Entrepreneurial Club; one-on-one student counseling and mentorship.

A growing field, Global Sustainability is a multi-disciplinary degree program encompassing multiple disciplines offered at Thomas: science, social studies, humanities, education, economics, and business.

This program is especially timely today because of the supply-chain issues creating shortages of products ranging from lithium to helium, oil to wheat, and even including climate-related resources such as water and energy. The time is now for careers and personal understanding of global sustainability.

Students in this program will explore social and management principles through the lens of the triple bottom line (People, Planet, Profits) thinking in their careers and personal lives, while also broadening their exposure to global issues and cultures, including environmental justice and social justice. This field of global sustainability is growing and jobs are too; the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that sustainability jobs will increase 16% annually for the next decade.
