Sammy, an employee of the College for two and a half years, is being recognized as this month’s Terrier STAR for her career focus, her care, and her sense of community.

“When I think of a Thomas College enthusiast, I think of Sammy. Sammy’s deep love and appreciation for this institution, being both an alumni and current employee, is showcased through her work with New Terrier Orientation, academic coaching, First-Year Experience, Theatre Club and just about every interaction she has at Thomas College,” said a colleague. “Sammy has been leading the way to revamp First-Year experience and New Student Orientation to ensure it is personalized to student needs, is engaging, and serves our first-year students.”

Colleagues share that Sammy will work one-on-one with students for as long as it takes to ensure students meet their goals – students are always her number one priority.

“Sammy is deeply dedicated to student centered learning, intentional programming, serving individual needs of the community and I believe sincerely deserves recognition for the work she continues to do for Thomas College,” said a coworker.

Sammy’s colleagues say she is committed to serving students from the moment that students deposit until they graduate – and she makes sure students feel a sense of support, belonging, and care.

“Sammy does all of this with an eye towards collaboration with all faculty and staff, efficiency, innovation and commitment to ensuring that no potential, incoming, or returning student falls through the cracks. Sammy truly displays what it means to ‘meet students where they are’,” they said.

“Sammy shows dedication, problem-solving, and genuine care and support of our students in all that she does!” said another colleague.
